A Family Secret Threatens a Carefully Built Life
At the center of "The Smell of Blood" is Chris Walker, a successful construction company owner who lives with his wife, Sharena, and their children. Chris is also a werewolf whose curse began during a mysterious encounter in Afghanistan.
Every month, Chris voluntarily enters a silver-lined cage built by Sharena, a former Army Captain who has spent years helping him manage his transformations. Their carefully planned routine allows the couple to protect their children and preserve a stable family life.
That stability begins to collapse when Chris meets Sebastian Adeyemi, a charismatic vampire who has wandered the earth for more than two centuries. Sebastian views Chris’s supernatural condition as a source of power and offers him the acceptance he has quietly desired. Their growing friendship soon leads to manipulation, kidnapping, murder, betrayal, and a violent struggle for the future of the Walker family.
Supernatural Horror Grounded in Human Emotion
The novel brings together elements of gothic horror, military thrillers, vampire mythology, and werewolf tragedy. Its supernatural conflict develops through the emotional experiences of a family living under constant pressure.

Filmmaking Experience Shapes a Cinematic Debut
Lawrence brings more than fifteen years of experience as a director, writer, producer, and editor to his first novel. He served in the U.S. Army from 1990 to 1998 and later graduated as salutatorian from Full Sail University.
His screen credits include the feature Tobias: Dark Hallway and the dark comedy Pieces of David, a Black Harvest Film Festival selection and Black Excellence Award nominee. He also served as co-executive producer on the animated horror feature To Your Last Death.
